A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital yesterday after being bitten by a dog in Purley.
Police and London Ambulance were called to the car park of Tesco in Purley Road, at 11am to reports a dog had bitten a young child.
The toddler was taken to hospital with facial injuries, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening or changing.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of permitting a dog to be dangerously out of control in a public place. She has since been bailed to return to a south London police station on June 27, pending further enquiries.
The dog, which is not believed to be a prohibited breed was seized by police and remains in police kennels.
