What better way to start the nominations than with a true media hound - Fitz the German pointer - owned by Richmond Park assistant manager Adam Curtis.
Fitz found fame on the cover of our sister paper, the Surrey Comet, after he wolfed down one-and-a-half kilos of sheep's cheese destined for Sir David Attenborough. And according to Adam it's not all he eats.
"He has a huge appetite and will eat anything. He also loves vindaloo.
"But he'll do lots of exercise to work it off. When I do 18 mile runs he comes along with me."
Fitz also loves to sleep and is often to be found underneath Adam's desk in his basket having a snooze.
"It's strange that in the morning's he'll sleep in the corner but in the afternoon he comes and sleeps under the desk."
Fitz, who is four years old, has a fantastic nose and his breed are often used as sniffer dogs.
Adam recalled one time in the Lake District when Fitz leapt over dry walls to get to a burnt sausage in an old bonfire site.
And then there was the famous cheese incident, where Fitz barged down three doors to eat the Duddlesworth sheep's cheese, handmade in Sussex and worth about £50. But Adam has forgiven Fitz.
"To come to work with him each day is just fantastic, it's great having him around."
