New Go Cycle works are set to go on all summer, with an extension to the two-way Portsmouth Road scheme the first to get underway.

Construction in High Street between South Lane and the north side of the Kingston Hall Road roundabout is to continue from May 8.

Work is being co-ordinated with other Go Cycle projects as well as gas works, with traffic diversions set for the coming months.

It is expected to be ready for Ride London in late July.

A section of High Street will be closed for about three weeks from May 8, and from later in the month a temporary one-way system will allow northbound traffic for about four weeks.

All car parks will be accessible, but the diversions in May and June are expected to cause delays.

The £30million "mini-Holland" scheme, paid for by the Mayor of London, is hoped to encourage more people to walk and cycle in the borough rather than use the roads for transport.
