If you were looking to the skies last night you might have been greeted with a stunning view of the moon.

The 'harvest moon', which is the first full moon rising closest to the autumnal equinox, rose late this year.

And thanks to a cloud-free sky last night and early this morning the county was bathed in lunar light.

The name harvest moon dates from when farmers needed brighter light to gather crops, and the full moon allowed them to work for longer in preparation for winter.
