Stage hypnosis only entertains, it can not cure problems

One of the challenges that I often come up against in my work as a Hypnotherapist is that many people seem to confuse hypnotherapy with stage hypnosis.

They tend to get worried that I might make them cluck like a chicken or eat a raw onion. However, stage hypnosis is not hypnotherapy.

The type of hypnosis that you see on stage or screen is simply a form of entertainment rather than a form of therapy.

It is not designed to help you overcome a problem or issue such as weight gain, smoking, stress, lack of confidence or phobias.

People who participate in stage hypnosis are generally those people who deep down are willing to do the silly things they are asked to do by the stage hypnotist, either because they are an extrovert or simply because they know they can do the silly things requested of them and blame the hypnotist for what they did.

One thing is for sure; a hypnotherapist cannot and will not make you do anything you do not want to do. Even if they were to try, you are aware of everything being said whilst in hypnosis and any unsavoury suggestions would simply cause you to wake immediately anyway.
