Elderly residents evacuated from their nursing home in Kingston remain in temporary accommodation.

Knee deep flood water led to the evacuation of Sobraon House and Delft House, Elm Road, Kingston. Kingston Council said the 18 residents remain with relatives or in temporary accommodation.

A council spokesman said: "Council staff and contractors have been working hard over the last week-and-a-half to bring the ground floor communal areas and flats back into use. It is expected that the residents will start moving back later this week - a remarkable achievement."
