A volunteer for a horse-riding disability centre will be walking 26 miles across the South Downs to raise money for the children who ride there.

Julie Askin, 42, from Epsom, volunteers at the Epsom Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), which is based at St Ebba’s Farm in Hook Road.

She will be taking on the challenge on May 19 starting from Lewes in East Sussex and following the South Downs Way, then tackling a section of descents and climbs over the Seven Sisters, before finishing at Beachy Head.

Mrs Askin said: "I decided to raise funds for Epsom RDA after volunteering for the group every week and seeing the delighted faces of the children when they arrive at the stables and the excitement when the mount their pony to start riding.

"I have seen fantastic improvements in their physical mobility and core strength as they progress with their riding. The money I raise will help feed the ponies and enable Epsom RDA to continue their good work in our community."
