Epsom boxers Joey Knight and Michael Burrows will enjoy home advantage next Saturday night when they enter the ring for the Queensbury Boxing League.

Both Knight and Burrows who represent the popular Gauntlett’s boxing gym will both be challenging for titles at the Epsom Downs Racecourse at the Queensbury Boxing League’s big St Patrick’s Day event.

After climbing the ranks of the televised competition with his all action style, Knight will face Coulsdon’s Troy Newman for the chance to be crowned novice welterweight champion, whilst Burrows faces London’s Kieron Harris as he bids to lift the super middleweight belt.

Talking ahead of the biggest night in the gym’s history, head coach Chris Gaunlett said: “ This is by far the biggest night the club has had since I set it up and we are all buzzing for the 17th.

“Both Joey and Michael have grown up together and been friends for many years, and to have them both boxing for titles on the same night right here in Epsom is massive.

“Since we’ve opened the club it has gone from strength to strength with hundreds of boxers attending the club every week, and the atmosphere in the gym is amazing.

“I believe this is the opportunity we deserve and the prospect of bringing two titles back to the gym is absolutely fantastic”

Also in action on the night will be one of the clubs latest contenders Hussein Mohungo who will also be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his fellow teammates.

Light welterweight Mohungo will meet Kent’s Brett Morgan over three rounds as part of the busy undercard of non title action.

All three of the Epsom boxers will compete in the Oaks arena on Saturday March 17 with the first contest scheduled to start at 6pm, and for more information check out www.queensburyboxing.co.uk
