Every year the people of Epsom and Ewell mark Armistice Day to remember and honour those who have served in the Armed Forces, especially those in the First and Second World Wars.
Here are some events in the borough over the weekend.
War Memorial wreath laying
Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12: the mayor lays wreaths at the various war memorials across the borough on behalf of residents
Services of Remembrance
Sunday, November 12 at St Mary’s Church, London Road, Ewell: the mayor and Civic Party will attend the wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial in St Mary’s churchyard at 10.30am prior to attending the church service, which will start at 10.50am.
The Deputy Mayor will attend the Remembrance Day Service at St Martin of Tours, Church Street, Epsom, at 10am.
Walk to Remember
Sunday, November 12: organised by What's on in Epsom, this walk from Epsom Marketplace to the war memorial at Epsom Cemetery leaves the marketplace at 1.30pm for a slow walk to the cemetery. A short non-religious service will take place followed by laying of wreaths.
Remembrance Day Concert
Sunday, November 12: The Central Band of the Royal British Legion, present its ever popular Remembrance Day Concert at the Epsom Playhouse at 3pm. Tickets from £11.50 Details from the Epsom Playhouse website
