A primary school in Epsom is demonstrating its commitment to recycling after making significant strides in the nationwide 'Home Recycling Challenge'.
The UK competition encourages children to care for the environment and ensure a sustainable future.
Stamford Green School, based in Epsom, will find out on Monday, September 25, whether they are the UK’s best recycling school. They are currently in third place.
The winners will receive a prize of £1,000.
Home Recycling Challenge was established by Recycle Now and Wastebuster with children’s TV presenter, Maddie Moate, encouraging primary schools nationwide to take part.
Linda Crichton, Head of Recycle Now at WRAP, said: “We know that many families are recycling but not all are clear on all the items they can put in their recycling bins at home.
“By challenging children to find out about what they can recycle from all around the home and by getting their families to recycle more, we want recycling to become the norm for the next generation.”
As part of the competition, pupils receive a take home worksheet to find out what can be recycled from their house.
