Free taster sessions for fall prevention classes are being held this week, run by Elmbridge Council.
As part of the council’s Elmbridge Active Every Day strategy, the various classes run every week with all abilities welcome.
Councillor Janet Turner, portfolio holder for Leisure and Culture, said: “Research has shown time and again that strength and balance exercises reduce the risk of falls in everyone, not just the very old and frail, and I am really excited that such a wide variety of preventive exercise sessions is now available for residents at risk.”
At Weybridge Centre for the Community on Tuesday, 22 August, there are five sessions running throughout the day from 9am until 4.30pm, with activities including chair-based yoga, cardiac rehab and Pilates.
On Thursday, the same classes will run between 12.15pm and 6pm at Thames Ditton Centre for the Community.
The first session is free, with a £5 charge for subsequent sessions.
