Birds of prey will be going to an Elmbridge garden centre and farm shop next month for free displays.

On August 4, 11 and 18, visitors to Garsons of Esher will be able to see the birds from 10am to 4pm, with flying displays at 1pm and 3pm.

There will also be the chance to meet and greet the birds and ask their handlers questions, and possibly even hold some of them with guidance from First Class Falconry’s Alan Greenhalgh.

The birds on show will include Harris hawks, a bald eagle, a gyr falcon, a turkey vulture, a kestrel and a kookaburra, along with a number of owls and some native birds such as a tawny owl and peregrine falcon.

Garsons director Ben Thompson said: “We're thrilled to have First Class Falconry coming along to Garsons this summer with their incredible birds, and we know these will be fantastic days out for all the family.

“Seeing these majestic birds in flight is nothing short of breath-taking, particularly the species that are not native to the UK as there are very few opportunities to see them in the flesh. Alan and his team are very knowledgeable, too, and it will be a brilliant way for kids and adults alike to learn about these spectacular stars of the sky.”
