The future of Croydon’s Old Town district was discussed at a special event last week.

Newly-founded business Matthews Yard hosted the day-long event on Friday just off Surrey Street which aimed to ask people’s opinions for the future of the historic area.

Along with presentations on some of the ideas for the Old Town, which includes a farmers market and other community events, there were food tastings and refreshments.

Councillor Jason Perry, cabinet member for planning, transport and sustainability said: "Old Town is rich in history and fascinating buildings, it’s an area that Croydon is rightly proud of and we want to ensure its future is bright.

"I’m very pleased that the Prince of Wales’ Foundation is working with the council to gather the views of local people on how we can shape the future of Old Town."

The event was funded through a grant provided by the Department for Communities and Local Government as part of the ‘Communities and Neighbourhoods in Planning’ programme.
