How far would you cycle to help save someone's life?

Well two Croydon men travelled from Aberdeen to London to raise more than £10,000 for cancer research.

It took Oliver Barnes and Richard Vale, along with five others from the Energy Industries Council team, six days to complete the 600-mile bike ride, but they said all the hard work was worth it in the end.

"I’m really proud of the EIC team, covering 600 miles in six days is an amazing achievement, especially considering that none of us are experienced cyclists," Mr Vale said.

"It’s been an incredible experience and while we are all very sore and tired, all the aches and pains are worth it to support two great charities."

But raising money to fight cancer wasn't the only thing on the agenda.

Part of the £10,000 raised also went to the Ocean Cleanup Riders.

"We are so pleased to be able to help two very worthwhile causes," Mr Barnes said.

"Cancer research is close to everybody’s heart at the EIC and The Ocean Cleanup develops advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic."

"We hope that everybody gets behind this challenge and donates as much as they can, so we can reach our target of £20,000."
