Fans of Netflix's smash hit Black Mirror have reason to get excited.

That's because the futuristic show is coming to Croydon next week to film an upcoming episode.

In a letter sent out by film company Ealing Studios, it said how filming would be taking in St George's Walk walk on April 25 and 27.

"I am writing to inform you about filming in your area for the well-known Netflix drama series, Black Mirror," the letter said.

"If you are unfamiliar with Black Mirror, it is a series of sharp, suspenseful, satirical standalone dramas written by Charlie Brooker.

"It is hugely popular with its audience and strives to use beautiful locations within all the films."

When contacted by the Croydon Guardian, Ealing Studios confirmed that filming in Croydon would be taking place.

Croydon man Jonny Rose also saw the letter, and despite not being a huge fan of the show, was excited to see his home town featured in such a big production.

"It's great to see such a popular show using Croydon as a backdrop," he said.

"Bear in mind this is one example in a long line of impressive productions that have used Croydon as a set such as The Batman Trilogy and The Da Vinci Code.

"Hopefully, the cast will use the opportunity to check out the businesses in St George's Walk such as Rise Gallery."

But of all the places to film a show, why Croydon?

Mr Rose thinks he has an idea.

"I imagine they've come to Croydon for the brutalist architecture which lends itself well to BM's dystopian tales," he said.

"But I'm hoping they'll surprise us and use some of the interesting architecture (such as the old Town Hall and Almshouses) or the parks in the area as well."

So if you fancy watching the show get made (or even have a chance of featuring in it yourself) get down there next week.
