Primary school students are pleading with drivers to slow down.

For the ninth year running, Croydon kids will be taking part in a banner designing contest for the Road Safety Week campaign: Speed Down Save Lives.

Director of Recognition Express Croydon, Stephen Bennett said: “Anything we can do to remind drivers to take more care – especially around schools – is a good thing.

"We really enjoy looking at the entries and I am sure the ‘speed down’ theme will inspire even more excellent entries this year. We look forward to seeing the designs.”

The students will try and get their own message of road safety across to the world with the winners to be presented a large-scale printed banner featuring their design which will be on display outside their school.

The closing date for entries is Friday, October 13.
