The man found dying in a Weybridge flat died from stab wounds to the heart, a preliminary postmortem examination has revealed.

Surrey Police made one arrest after the man, in his 40s who is yet to be formally identified, was found with injuries at the flat in Queens Road, Weybridge, at about 4pm on Monday.

The person arrested, a 26-year-old, has been interviewed and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police are continuing a murder investigation.

The air ambulance landed at the nearby cricket green at about 4pm, and police were called at closer to 5pm after attempts to resuscitate the injured man.

South Road was also cordoned off from Monday until yesterday evening, and one officer remains guarding the scene.

Officers from the Surrey and Sussex joint major crime team and the Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood Team continue to carry out inquires and reassurance patrols in the area.
