Concession managers sited in Allders have met with the council to look to find alternative premises.

Traders have met with representatives from Croydon Council to discuss issues surrounding their future after the North End department store went into administration.

Council leader Mike Fisher said: "While the administrators do their work we are keen to do everything we can to help and reassure those local small businesses who may well be seriously affected by the outcome of these negotiations.

"This meeting allowed us to have an open and frank discussion and ensure that everyone present had a full understanding of the situation as it currently stands.

"Our main objective right now is to ensure that trading continues from the store, and we are working with the landlords and the administrator to find out how this can be achieved.

"But we also need to be ready to support the businesses and employees in the unwanted event that the store does close."
