An outdoor tennis club in the British winter is not usually a thriving scene of matchplay and social drinks.
That used to be a problem for the David Lloyd Epsom club until the arrival of the new tennis dome.
Two covered courts free from cold winds, icy rain and the inevitable snow is the tennis players dream in December. Adult and junior players can be seen going about their drills and refining their skills in preparation for the next match. Indeed the club is about to host its first winter club championship in full confidence the weather will play no part in the matches.
Richie Baker (Adult Tennis Professional) says ""it is a massive investment for the club and a huge benefit for our members. We can now guarantee squads running and focusing on our junior performance programme in 2012. It is hugely exciting times for tennis at the club."
