An art student is still reeling after his design made the cover of a limited edition phone released in August.

Gaby Sahhar, from Streatham, was overjoyed to win a competition run by Vodafone and the Tate Galleries.

The 19-year-old said: "It sounds a bit cheesy but I do think it’s changed my life.

"When I first found out about winning I was over the moon."

Mr Sahhar, inspired by Picasso’s light drawings, came up with the design by photographing himself moving in the dark.

He said: "I made it pitch black in my room and then I set my camera on long exposure and wrapped myself in fairy lights."

Even though the image was manipulated on photo shop and its colours were changed, Mr Sahhar feels that he remains at the centre of the design.

He said: "I’m in the middle of it somehow. I’m in the middle of every phone."

Mr Sahhar has not yet spent the £1,000 he received for winning the competition, which was open to members of the Tate Collective.

He has just finished an art foundation Course at Richmond College and getting ready to start a fine art degree at Goldsmiths University.
