Lucky pub fall through hatch creates You Tube sensation
A businessman has become an unwitting You Tube sensation after a film of him falling 10 feet through a pub's basement hatch generated more than 200,000 views.
Eoin Clarke, from Queenstown Road, was helping out with the entertainment at the King William IV pub in Pimlico during the Olympics when disaster struck.
Mr Clarke, 39, said: "I help with the entertainment at the pub, someone asked me to change over the Olympics on the TV.
"I went behind the bar to get the remote, walked down towards the TV and fell down the hatch.
"I fell about 10 feet and landed on the caged lift, with some linen which was about to come up.
"I was so relieved to be alright - I had a few pints to relax."
Punters' initial howls of laughter turned serious when they realised Mr Clarke might be injured but, miraculously, he escaped without injury.
He said: "Its making a lot of people laugh so please enjoy and share my pain."
