An epileptic woman died after having a fit while alone in her flat.

Sarah Jane Williams, 31, a voluntary worker, died on February 6 this year after having a fit at her flat, the second of her life, in Leith Towers, Sutton.

Croydon Coroners Court heard on Tuesday (August 13) Miss Williams, who was registered with learning disabilities, had her first attack in 2003, but had been stable since then.

However, on February 6, at the flat Miss Williams shared with her boyfriend, she had fitted again in the early hours of the morning.

Despite the best efforts of ambulance crews to revive her, she was pronounced dead at St Helier Hospital.

Coroner Dr Roy Palmer told the family in court: "The probable cause of death was epilepsy, which is a natural cause."
