More than 1,000 shoppers flocked to North Cheam for a day of al fresco family fun to gather ideas on how to transform the area.

The Giant Tea Party, held on June 30, invited visitors drop in on the high street to enjoy tea and cakes.

Entertainment included a juggling jester, balloon animals, hair and nail artists and community stalls.

The event was an opportunity for people to give ideas about how to spend £1.4 million from the Mayor of London's Outer London Fund on the area.

Together with investment from the council, there is a pot of almost £2 million to be spent on redeveloping the town centres in North Cheam and Worcester Park.

There will be a second tea party in Worcester Park on July 28, where residents will have their final chance to put ideas in at this stage of the process.

The event was supported by Sainsbury’s, Councillor Kirsty Jerome and Coffee Affair, an Italian gourmet food market.
