The firth birthday of the infamous ‘unfinished bridge’ was celebrated by residents last week.

Residents gathered at the bridge on Wednesday, June 20, with unfinished cake, unfinished songs and unfinished poems to celebrate the unfinished bridge in Wandle Meadow Nature Park in Colliers Wood.

Keith Spears, chairman of the Colliers Wood Residents Association, said: "The unfinished bridge is the missing link in the Wandle Trail and is a source of embarrassment to everybody concerned because we have been waiting five years for it to be completed."

The bridge was built in 2007 as part of a commitment by developers Bewley Homes, now Wimpey, to return something to the community after being allowed to build a large development - but has never been finished.
