A man had to be cut from his car when his car crashed into a tree and wall in Wallington.

The driver was taken to hospital with rib injuries following the smash at the junction of Grosvenor Avenue, Grosvenor Road and Park Lane at about 8.20 this morning.

Luckily nobody else was injured when the orange Ford Escort smashed into the garden wall yards from a house.

The mangled car was towed away after the driver was cut out of his car by fire crews.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: "We sent two fire engines to the scene, one containing specialist cutting equipment. Fifteen fire fighters attended, after reports of a male trapped in his car. with cutting equipment had to rescue the man from his car before he was taken to hospital."

We need to keep St. Helier Hospital A&E to help folk who unfortunately have accidents such as this without hauling them around SW London to reach one still open.
