The High Sheriff of Surrey has described a children’s charity as "inspirational" after paying it a visit.
Karin Sehmer, who was installed in the county’s historical role in March, paid a visit to The Children’s Trust, in Tadworth Court, earlier this month and met with children, staff and volunteers.
Dr Sehmer was given a tour by the chief executive Andrew Ross, which included a visit to the sensory gardens and a purpose-built tree house designed to accommodate children with limited mobility.
Speaking after the visit, Dr Sehmer said: "Visiting Tadworth Court was an inspirational experience - an incredibly dedicated staff with a genuine determination to improve the lives of their young patients and support their families. Clearly they achieve both aims.
"Andrew Ross is filled with ideas for improving the already superb facilities and that is the heart of Tadworth Court. No one ever gives up.
"Where else can one find a tree house with wheelchair access - and if your wheelchair gets stuck, there's always the lift."
Dr Sehmer is dedicated to improving awareness of disability issues as one of her key areas of interest during her term.
