A football-loving band are hoping for the success of Three Lions after their song was selected as the official England 2012 tune by the FA.

Sing 4 England, which is sung by Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara, features Sutton band Joe Public Utd.

The song's video will be aired at Wembley Stadium as the players take to the pitch for England's final pre tournament friendly against Belgium on Saturday (June 2).

The FA has chosen the track to be its official Euro 2012 anthem and follows in the footsteps of Skinner and Baddiel (Euro 96) and New Order (Italia 90).

Released on June 3, the song has already had airtime on Sky Sports and been trending on micro blogging site Twitter.

Drummer James Hannington, from Wallington, said: "It's a real honour to be selected by the FA. I think the success of the song will depend on how well the team do.

"We met Chris a few years ago when we were doing a song for an advert for the World Cup and we said we would do something for Euro 2012.

"He's great, and with him involved we won't be short of publicity and it's a great cause."

Apparently, England captain Steven Gerrard is already a fan of the track, while Chelsea and England stars Frank Lampard and Gary Cahill have pledged their support.

FA group commercial director, Stuart Turner, said: "We are pleased to confirm we are backing Chris's song 'Sing 4 England' as the Official England Euro 2012 Anthem.

"Following the public and fans reaction to the 'unbelievable' anthem, we are getting behind it.

"In addition, 100 per cent of Chris' proceeds will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care, which is a great cause."

At least 25p from every sale of the single will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care www.mariecurie.org.uk
