Lee Dalglish say’s he is still targeting a second crack at the Queensbury Boxing League’s British Welterweight title after recording his first draw in the division against Oxford's Terry Russell.

The flashy welterweight from Morden will be able to watch his latest exploits in the UK’s premier boxing league in a special hour long boxing show this Friday night at 10pm on one of the countries biggest sports channels British Eurosport, and Dalglish is hoping the shows promoters will give him the chance of a second showdown with current champion Patrick Fielder who he narrowly lost out to back in September when the pair clashed for the vacant belt.

Dalglish’s clash with Russell was seen as a final eliminator for the title, which Fielder successfully defended on the same night, but with honours even after three exciting rounds of boxing Dalglish may need to do it all over again if he is to secure his dream rematch with the champion.

“I didn’t really box that well against Russell and my training for the fight was probably the worst training camp I have ever had for any of my fights,” commented Dalglish.

“I was carrying a bad ankle injury for month’s before the fight and it hampered all of my preparations leading up to the bout so I only really had a few weeks of proper training.

"I felt in my first clash with Fielder it was really close and I could have nicked it but it didn’t go my way so I really want to get another chance as I know I will beat him if I am 100% fit.”

Dalglish’s showdown with Russell will feature on the undercard of the league’s Striking Distance show that will be going out on Sky Sports channel 410 and also on Virgin Media channel 521 at 10pm on Friday night as part of the channels big night of boxing, and with long term target Patrick Fielder also in action on the show, Dalglish will be tuning in to watch his arch rival in action.
