Sutton’s batsmen let them down on Saturday as they lost by 81 runs to Sunbury in the Surrey Championship Premier Division.

Having won the toss and decided to bowl, Sutton saw Sunbury wrack up 247-7 from their 50 overs – a total Sutton would not get close to matching.

Opener Michael Thornely was their top scorer with 41 as they were all out for 166.

In division one, Cheam scraped a four-run victory at home to Brook.

After Cheam were all out for 144, they reduced Brook to 96-9 before a last-wicket partnership took the visitors to the brink of victory until Lee Harrison’s catch denied them a winning boundary.

Also in division one, Beddington comfortably beat Purley by nine wickets.

Having dismissed Purley for 100, they made their target with the loss of just one batsman.

In division two, Worcester Park claimed a 49-run win at Pyrford.

Park scored 155 all out before skittling Pyrford out for 106 Saturday: Sutton v Camberley, Ashtead v Beddington, Old Whitgiftians v Cheam, Worcester Park v Horsley & Send.
