Corinthian Casuals boss Kim Harris was not surprised to hear former player Byron Brown was sent-off for Walton Casuals on Saturday – because it was the reason he released him earlier this month.

Brown, sent off for Harris’s Casuals against Crawley Down last month, saw red for the Stags in their 4-1 defeat to Walton & Hersham on Monday, having made his debut in a 1-0 win over Hythe Town on Saturday.

But he should be available to face his former club at Waterside Drive on Saturday, with any subsequent ban expected to kick in a week later.

“In four years I think he has been sent off four or five times for us and it was the reason I let him go in the end,” said Harris.

“He is a lovely, lovely lad and a good player, but when he gets on to the pitch he turns into someone else.”

Harris’s Casuals lost 1-0 at home to Maidstone United on Monday, having crashed 4-0 at Godalming Town on Saturday.

And the King George’s Field chief has warned his men they must buck their ideas up for Tuesday’s Surrey Senior Cup semi-final visit of Sutton United.

“We’re safe and have nothing to play for. That is how we played. I don’t know what will happen if we play that way against Sutton,” he added.

Brown was one of five new signings to make their debuts for Walton over the weekend, with Banstead trio Jordan Cheadle, Adam Cheadle and Michael Corbett, plus former Walton & Hersham man Sol Patterson-Bohner, also making their bows.
