A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage at Sutton police station, after a police chase.

The man was chased by officers on foot and in police vehicles after the incident in the police station at 5pm today.

It is understood damage was caused to the inside of the police station.

The arrest took place minutes later in Langley Park Road.

A witness said she saw the police pinning down the man in the street.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) was also called to the scene.

It is understood the man may have complained of injuries after alleged contact with a police vehicle chasing him.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said in the past few minutes paramedics said any injuries were not deemed serious enough to be taken for hospital treatment.

He said the man would now be taken to a south London police station for questioning.
