An Epsom man involved in a car crash in which a woman died on Easter Sunday is still in hospital.

The 60-year-old, who was driving the VW Golf which collided with a Honda Accord on the A24 at Warnham, is being treated at East Surrey Hospital for a broken sternum.

His 59-year-old female passenger, also from Epsom, was treated at the same hospital for whiplash and shock.

Police have named the woman who died in the crash as 56-year-old Hawerun Nessa, of Fourth Avenue, London.

Mrs Nessa was a passenger of the Honda Accord and died at the scene. The other five passengers of the car were taken to hospital.

A 22-month old girl remains in a critical but stable condition at St. George's Hospital in Tooting.

Her sisters, aged three and five, are in hospital having suffered broken legs.

A 26-year-old woman and the 34-year-old male driver of the Honda have both been released from hospital.

Inspector Phil Nicholas, from Sussex Police, said: "A full investigation into this tragic incident is under way and we still want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who saw the vehicles in the area around 11.30am on Easter Sunday. Please call us on 101 quoting Operation Smallridge."
