Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Croydon.

Rajendra Patel was assaulted at an address on Lansdowne Road, on Tuesday, February 21.

The 48-year-old was taken to a south London hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

But Mr Patel returned to hospital on Thursday March 9, where he died the following day.

A post mortem examination held today at Croydon Mortuary gave the cause of death as pulmonary thromboembolism, deep vein thrombosis of the left thermeral vein and a fracture to the left ankle.

Police would like to speak to Daniel Bannister, 37, who they believe may have information vital to their investigation.

An incident room has opened under Acting Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command.
