Thousands of pounds have been given to schools to encourage children and staff to get on their bikes.
Virgo Fidelis Preparatory School in South Norwood has been given £7,000 to build a bike shelter, set up a cycle club and buy communal bikes.
Attwood Primary School, Gresham Primary School and Byron Primary School have each been given £3,000 to encourage cycling among pupils.
The 'Cycle Grants for Schools' scheme targets the Mayor’s 13 outer London Biking Boroughs and those that have high car usage, specific issues such with bus behaviour or overcrowding on buses or fall within the top 10 congested areas.
Ben Plowden, TfL Director of Better Routes and Places said: “This funding will enable more young children and families to experience and appreciate cycling in London.
“Creating greater opportunities for children to increase their ability and awareness of cycling at school gets them familiar with cycling from an early age - building for a greener, healthier future.”
