A dog was pulled from a freezing lake in a dramatic rescue after it fell through ice.
Firefighters from Battersea fire station plucked the pooch from Battersea Park lake yesterday.
They had to smash through ice as they paddled in an inflatable dinghy to reach the distressed dog.
The dramatic rescue is shown in the video below.
It is understood the dog, a daschund, fell through the ice after rushing onto the partially frozen lake.
The Fire Rescue Unit quickly inflated a dinghy and set out on to the lake to rescue it.
A crowd that had formed to watch the rescue unfold cheered as two firefighters pulled the dog from the freezing waters.
A spokesman for Battersea fire station said: "We believe the dog was fine following the rescue, but obviously very cold."
It was reunited with its owners, who had been nervously watching from the side of the lake.
