A retired grandma swapped muffins for microphones and hash browns for headphones as a breakfast radio show broadcast from her front room.
Glynis Barnett invited Christian O’Connell from the Absolute breakfast show into her Shirley home as part of their DJs in PJs show on January 27.
The host was looking for listeners to suggest a fun night out which his show could visit before staying the night at the location and broadcasting live from the house.
Mrs Barnett, 61, was volunteered by her daughter, who suggested Shirley - with a curry at Tandoori Knights followed by karaoke at the Orchard pub.
And to her surprise, the DJ took her up on the idea and headed down to Croydon on Thursday night.
Mrs Barnett said: “It was surreal but great fun- the DJs were such a laugh!”
Christian O’Connell said “If you’d told me last year I’d be having a sleepover at a listener’s house, I wouldn’t have believed you - and oh what a night.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better host than Glynnis - and Shirley town was a blast. We enjoyed a sensational curry at Tandoori Knights before heading across the road to The Orchard pub for a few beers and some serious karaoke action.
“Mummy Glynis tucked us in and I was out like a light, until of course the curry took full affect on my wonderful but gassy co-host Richie Firth. It’s something I certainly won’t be forgetting in a hurry - in fact I think I might be back next week.”
