Sutton assumes TV spotlight for match.com, McDonald's and PhoneShop

Your Local Guardian: The new PhoneShop in Sutton High Street The new PhoneShop in Sutton High Street

Sutton has once again assumed the TV spotlight as adverts are aired featuring the area.

The latest commercials for McDonald's and match.com campaigns are currently hitting our screens, with Sutton a principle character.

In the match.com ad, below, a ukulele player is seen serenading a female on a platform at Sutton station.

Meanwhile, a new commercial for fast food giant McDonald's, also below, includes scenes featuring a giant Happy Meal, shot in Sutton High Street.

And elsewhere, filming has begun on the second series of Channel 4 comedy series PhoneShop, with the new store taking shape opposite the Sutton Arms pub, video above.

Filming for the show has already taken place at nightclub New York, New York, in Throwley Road.

Shame it also doesn't show what a Sh*thole the place is!

Wonder if the council will use any of the money they got on the actual place itself.

Emmmm to say that Sutton has assumed the TV Spotlight is rather stretching it I would say. Looking at both adverts there is nothing to identify the fact that they featured this borough! In the one on Sutton Station the lyrics say she is going to Wigan! so could be starting out from anywhere...... I don't think we have direct trains from Platform 2!

And as for Phoneshop... oh my, have you watched it? I tried a couple of episodes from the earlier series and was pretty appalled to say the least.

Vulgar language and very unfunny jokes was about the sum of it! For Sutton to be associated with such a programme was an embarrassment!

Apart from that, I hope the Council made some money from these film crews... will help to keep our council bills down!

well I was trying to use the station when they were filming the 'match' ad and they wouldn't let me pass to catch my train, I was over 45 minutes late for an appointment, fortunately not a job interview as they would never have believed me
