An East Sheen film-maker today spoke of his delight at news that his most recent project had scooped an Oscar.

Bobby Webster, 32, was the cinematographer on 18-minute film God of Love, which picked up the prize in the best short film (live action) category at last night's star-studded event.

Speaking before the announcement, Mr Webster, of Gilpin Road, said: "I should point out my name is not on the Oscar, that is the director, but it is just a great honour and something we were not really expecting.

"I don’t think anyone really expects it."

God of Love - the tale of a lovesick darts-throwing lounge singer who ends up in possession of cupid type love darts - wowed the judges and beat four other nominees to the top spot.

Shot in black and white, the film was the creation of Mr Webster and former flatmate Luke Matheny who were eager to develop the type of old-style Hollywood film they love to watch themselves.
