A 13-year-old schoolboy became Croydon’s youngest sex offender after attacking two women and a teenaged girl in just four days.

The child from South Croydon, who cannot be named for legal reasons, grabbed the women from behind in a bear hug before thrusting his groin repeatedly into them.

He pleaded guilty to sexually touching the women last Friday, and is due to be sentenced at Croydon Youth Court on November 12.

He attacked a 16-year-old girl on October 14 near the Croydon flyover but ran off when he was interrupted by a passerby.

A short while later he assaulted a 28-year-old near Purley station and on October 18 he targeted a 30-year-old woman in Avondale Road.

The mother of the 16-year-old victim said her daughter was extremely distressed by the attack.

She said: “I want to warn other Croydon women that although he is 13 years old we believe he is a serious sexual predator.

“We are led to believe he does not have a curfew and he has not been tagged.

“His intentions as a 13-year-old are not good, our concern is, with his age, he will not be given a tough sentence and will do this again. We want to warn every woman to be on their guard.”

“[My daughter] was not expecting to be attacked in broad daylight and not by a 13-year-old.

“He has got the potential to do it again, we want to plead with other parents to watch out for their girls and be aware that this dangerous boy is about.”

Police believe there may be other victims of the schoolboy sex attacker and are asking them to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Tim Hammond, led the investigation, said: “We are concerned there are other victims out there who may not have come forward because they may have thought it was not a serious offence.

“We want to be clear this is not a matter to be taken lightly, it is not a practical joke and it is not to be seen as such.

“It was very upsetting for the women involved.”

DS Hammond said there were concerns friends of the young teenager might think it was a practical joke.

He said: “There is some suggestion this is something his peers thought was a fun thing to do.

“We want to let people know if there are other incidents of this nature you could end up in court, it could ruin your life – you could be on the sex offenders register.

“We have had four reported offences, all of a similar nature. A fourth is still being investigated.”
