Teen sexually assaulted on Streatham train

British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a sexual assault on a teenager.

Police said the incident occurred at about 5.35pm on board a train between Streatham and Peckham Rye on Wednesday, January 27.

Detective Constable Sarah Garden a 15-year-old from Bromley was followed on to a train at Streatham station by a man who repeatedly tried to engage her in conversation.

Police said the man then sat opposite her and touched her leg "indecently" before leaving the train at Peckham Rye.

Det Con Garden said: “This was an intimidating and frightening experience for a young girl who was simply making her way home and I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about the incident.

"We have made a number of local enquiries and would also like to identify the man pictured in the CCTV image in connection with this incident.”
