RAMSGATE 3 CORINTHIAN-CASUALS 2

After another disastrous finale on Saturday, maybe the club should be renamed Capitulation-Casuals!

Another good performance was ruined in two injury time minutes and left Casuals to rue what might have been.

In view of the fact Casuals have lost four games in recent weeks having completely outplayed the opposition for 95 per cent of the match, the league table has a rather harsh look to it. Had those matches been converted into three points, Casuals would be sitting fourth in the Ryman Division One South rather than 14th.

The first half was a scrappy affair and the only goal came after nine minutes when poor defending allowed Warren Schulz to give Ramsgate the lead.

Kane Sergeant was Casuals' most creative player at this point and his free-kicks were a constant threat.

First, Saheed Sankoh almost connected with one, and this was followed by one that was saved by Sam Mott. Casuals got into their stride in the last 10 minutes of the half and Carlton Murray-Price headed wide Jamal Carr’s cross, and then Ali Wiltshire had a goal ruled out for offside. Andy Hadden had a long-range effort for Ramsgate at the start of the second half, but it was Casuals who had the upper hand.

On 55 minutes, Scott Hassell’s shot took a wicked deflection and Casuals were level.

Murray-Price then went on a good run, before passing to Wiltshire who shot over.

Ramsgate replied, with Schulz shooting wide, but Casuals stormed back and Wiltshire’s low cross was just out of the reach of Murray-Price. With nine minutes left, Murray-Price turned his man before firing past Mott.

Casuals had further chances the best being Sanheed Sankoh, who shot wide with one minute left.

Disaster struck in the 90th minute when Gary Mickelborough scored despite being a yard offside.

Two minutes later, Danny Twyman headed home following a corner and Casuals had thrown it away again.

There was further controversy when Joe McNerney was dismissed after the final whistle.

WORTHING 3 CORINTHIAN-CASUALS 0

Casuals could not reproduce their stunning FA Trophy victory over league leaders Worthing in Tuesday night's league fixture. Casuals, though, did not disgrace themselves and, with a bit more luck, may have come home with a point.

After only four minutes, Worthing took the lead when Glen Woodburn converted a low free-kick, and this was followed by Jamie Brotherton shooting wide with just Luke Naughton to beat. The wind was causing chaos at times, but Casuals slowly began to ease their way back into the match.

Glenn Boosey’s low drive was easily collected by Alan Mansfield on 35 minutes, before Naughton made a tremendous double save shortly after. On 39 minutes Danny Green was brought down in the area, but unfortunately Joe McNerney’s penalty was saved by Mansfield.

Before half-time, Kane Sergeant struck a great free-kick that was again saved by Mansfield.

Any hopes of saving the match ended on 49 minutes, when Ben Johnson hit a 30-yard screamer into the top right hand corner to give Worthing a two goal advantage. Casuals, though, continued to work hard and Charlie Farmer almost scored a spectacular own goal on 68 minutes. Byron Brown spurned Casuals best chance of the half when he headed wide with six minutes remaining. Moments later Ross Treleaven fired home Worthing’s third.
