Wandsworth mums bare bumps for charity calendar

Mums-to-be have bared their bumps for a calendar, dubbed Great Expectations, to raise funds for the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) - the UK’s leading charity on pregnancy, birth and early parenthood.

Each year the charity supports thousands of parents through a network of 300 local branches, and proceeds from sales of the £4.99 calendar will go directly to supporting a breastfeeding centre at the Weir Link in Balham.

Jo McDonald, from Balham, was one of the women - all of whom are local - who posed.

She said: “The photo shoot was great fun, the photographer really made me feel at ease and captured the moment very well."

Jo, who gave birth to a baby girl, Florence Alice, who weighed in at 8lb 9oz on October 15, added: “As a mother to a new baby I know how crucial good advice can be in those early days.”

The calendar has been designed to be used as a pregnancy planner or as a standard annual calendar, with each page containing a monthly planner with reminders.

Jenny Hemsley, chairwoman of Clapham NCT, said: “This is a unique opportunity to buy a lovely memento of your own pregnancy or as a gift for a pregnant friend or sister, as well as donating money.”

The calendar is on sale in local maternity shops, online at claphamnct.com, and can be ordered by emailing calendar@claphamnct.com with your name, telephone number and email address.
