Pensioner dies after Wandsworth bus collision


A pensioner has died after he was hit by a bus in Tooting on Saturday.

Police were called to the junction of Mitcham Road and Bickersteth Road at 6.45pm after the incident, involving a 264 bus.

The 84-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene by an air ambulance crew.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the name of the man had not been released but next of kin have been informed.

Anyone witnesses to the incident are asked to contact the Met police’s collision investigation Unit on 0208 941 9011.

A Met police spokesman said: “The area was busy at the time and will have been witnessed by people who can help officers investigate this tragic incident.”
