Two designers who use secondhand materials to make dresses for the stars are in line for a gong.
Annika Sanders, 36, from Putney, and business partner Kerry Seager, 35, have been shortlisted for the Ultimate Green Queen category at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards 2009.
After travelling together, the friends turned a passion for fashion into an international business, that is also helping to save the planet by recycling secondhand pieces of material into high fashion clothes.
The pair also help customers restyle and reuse pieces from their own wardrobes and now sell their own designs worldwide through shops and a website.
Kerry said: “It's good at the moment, because the recession has made people evaluate the way they shop and invest in pieces that don't fall apart.
"Plus our clothes are timeless, so they don't have to chuck them in the bin after a year.”
As well as being eco-campaigners, Annika and Kerry are devoted to teaching up-and-coming designers and are even mentioned in the GCSE textile syllabus.
Their celebrity clients are known to include Gwen Stefani, Sadie Frost and Russell Brand.
Not content with just designing the duo have also just had a book published, Junky Styling: Wardrobe Surgery, that shows how to reconstruct your own clothes.
