The distraught mum of a murdered 23-year-old from West Norwood has made an emotional appeal for information to catch her son's killer on the anniversary of his death.

Lucan Gordon was stabbed to death outside the Domino Club in Coldharbour Lane, Brixton on September 19, the day after celebrating his birthday.

He died of a single stab wound to the neck.

His killer has still not been brought to justice, and a £5,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to his death.

As police launched a renewed appeal for information, Lucan's mum Pat Gordon said: "A life should never be taken for granted. A life should never be taken by the hands of another human being. Losing someone is not painful, it's a life time of torture.

"Our son's life was cut short by a coward. There isn't enough reason in the world to give justification for taking Lucan's life. Words aren't enough to describe how destroyed our family lives have become.

"Lucan wasn't a monster, maybe a bit misguided but never a threat to society or anyone. He was our son and a brother, loving, kind and very genuine at heart. His warm presence is sadly missed and not enough shoulders in the world could give us the strength we need to stand up.

"We only hope and pray that anyone who knows about his death will have a conscience and come forward so that justice will be served. I know someone out there knows something, please come forward so that our family will at least have some closure."

Lucan was outside the Domino Club that evening with a group of people.

Police say he was attacked by a man who suddenly arrived in the street, stabbed Lucan and ran off.

Detective Inspector Richard Beadle, from the homicide and serious crime command, said police were determined to find who was responsible.

He said: "We are hoping the news of a reward will encourage someone to come forward, now that a year has passed.

"I ask those people that have information on his murder to consider how they would feel if someone close to them was lost so tragically. Please come forward and speak to us so that together we convict the right man for his murder."

In January this year police arrested a 32-year-old in connection with the killing, but he was released without charge.
