Drivers can go green by learning to take their turn, as more vehicles are added to Merton’s car sharing scheme.
The 17 Volkswagen Golfs will be parked on the borough’s streets for members of the scheme, which is a partnership between Merton Council and car share company Streetcar, to hire for a short time.
Brett Akker, Streetcar's co-founder, said: "People really want the flexibility and convenience of owning a car in a city, but not the costs and stresses that go with it.
@We've proven that if you give people a very reliable and convenient alternative, they're only too willing to take it up.”
The new fleet was officially launched on April 3.
Streetcar says 1,100 Merton residents and businesses are already signed up to the scheme.
