A black-cab driver has been found guilty of rape and 18 other charges of drugging and sexually assaulting women in the back of his cab.

John Worboys, 51, of Rotherhithe, south east London, was found guilty today at Croydon Crown Court after five days of deliberation by the jury.

Worboys used spiked champagne to drug his victims - including women from Putney, Balham, Fulham, Herne Hill, East Sheen, Feltham and Twickenham - between October 2006 and February last year.

The oddball flashed up to £4,000 of cash to female passengers telling them he had won it on the lottery or in a casino to entice them into having a celebratory drink with him.

When they accepted, he gave them champagne spiked with a mix of over-the-counter pills before climbing into the back seat of the cab to sexually assault them.

The retired male stripper, who used to call himself “Terry the Minder”, also kept a “tool kit”- which included drinks, drugs, condoms, wads of cash and a vibrator- in the front of his cab so he could carry out the attacks.

Worboys was accused of attacking 14 women and faced 23 charges including rape, sexual assault and administering a substance with intent.

He was found guilty of 19 charges - one count of rape, four counts of sexual assault, one count of assault by penetration, one count of attempted sexual assault and 12 counts of administering a substance with intent.
