Cancer-stricken reality TV star Jade Goody’s wedding cake was baked for free by a Ewell businesswoman.

Laura Conway, 28, worked into the small hours of Sunday morning to create seven tiers of 170 cup cakes sprinkled with glitter and topped with iced butterflies, hearts and flowers.

The owner of Cupcake-A-Licious was called on Wednesday night by publicist Max Clifford to make the Vanilla Sweetheart and Pretty in Pink cupcakes in time for Goody’s wedding to Jack Tweed on Sunday.

Miss Conway began baking on Friday evening and had only a few hours sleep before she resumed work on Saturday morning and didn’t rest until it was completed on Sunday morning.

She said she ordered dozens of boxes of icing sugar, caster sugar, flour and eggs to make each vanilla sponge cup cake, which normally cost £2 each and was made with her secret recipe.

Miss Conway, who was helped by her mother Pat, then delivered the cake personally to Down Hall, a hotel in Hertfordshire, on Sunday morning.

But she said the lack of sleep and exhaustion did not matter and was “privileged’’ to be able to give Goody, 27, who has terminal cancer, “a bit of happiness’’.

She said: “I was flabbergasted to get the call. Max must have seen a leaflet somewhere. I’m shocked and honoured to be asked.

“I feel so sorry for her sons and her whole family. It’s quite sad to be making a cake for such an unusual occasion, but I hope it will be a happy day for them.

“Jade wants a really bright and sparkly cake. I want to try and give her a bit of happiness and help make it a joyous occasion.”

Last week it was revealed that Goody’s fiance Tweed, who was released early last month from an 18-month prison sentence for assault, had his bail restrictions eased by Jack Straw so she would not have to spend her wedding night alone.

Goody was to wear a £3,500 gown, a gift from Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed, with a sewed-in pouch in which she could keep her drugs to see her through the day.

The TV personality was expected to earn close to £1 million from the television and magazine rights to her wedding and has said the money will go to her children.

Miss Conway said: “Anybody would do the same thing for their children in the situation.

“Cancer is very close to home for me as my father own passed away a few years ago.

“It’s amazing how more young women are aware of cervical cancer now because of Jade. I think she’s an amazing woman.’’
