A cleaner denied murdering an 81-year-old from Epsom at the Old Bailey today.

Nicola Bushnell, 43, a mother of two from Littleton Road, Epsom, was charged with the murder of Joyce Cregeen - a retired police administrator - and three counts of fraud by false representation, which she also pleaded not guilty to.

The fraud charges relate to the alleged theft of £60 from Mrs Cregeen’s bank account in March and April this year.

Mrs Cregeen was found dead with multiple stab wounds to the torso at her Sefton Road home, in the Longmead Estate, on May 15.

She lived alone ever since her husband died in 1997.

Bushnell was granted bail to appear for trial on June 26.
