A top police spokeswoman for Croydon has been investigated for allegedly assaulting a male spectator at her child’s football match in Kent.
The Metropolitan Police’s highest ranking female Asian officer, Parm Sandhu, was accused of assaulting the man at the match in Sevenoaks on September 24.
Ms Sandhu, 44, has reportedly denied attacking the man.
A Met spokeswoman said: “A report has been received from Kent Police and is being considered by the Directorate of Professional Standards in line with normal procedure.”
Ms Sandhu, of Sikh origin and originally from Birmingham, joined the police in 1989.
She became a community police officer after leaving the civil service, but kept her job secret from her parents for six months fearing their disapproval.
In 2005 she was accepted on the Home Office’s fast-track Higher Potential Scheme, which aims to take potential leaders and prepare them for senior ranks.
Kent Police looked into the incident but the Crown Prosecution Service concluded there was not enough evidence to prosecute.
A Kent police spokesman said: “On September 24, 2008, there was an alleged assault at a football match in Sevenoaks.
“The incident has been thoroughly investigated by Kent police and has now been closed.”
